Renovation writer and lifestyle repairs in Jasmine Lappalainen's new home, fresh natural green and blue shades combine with Art Nouveau -inspired forms and patterns that are rhythmic by luxurious touching brass. The apartment in Helsinki is the eighth home of the Lappalainen family and the ninth renovation site. Home renovation was squeezed into a tight 28 -day schedule.

In the previous family, the family enjoyed a record five years, otherwise they have moved every two to three years. "I am in a steady kind of restlessness that feels in the stomach, fingertips, wandering and whipping," Jasmine describes. "It does not leave me alone, and it knocks early in the morning, wakes up at night, pushes on the shoulders in unexpected places in the middle of the day."

The thirst for creativity is moving forward

For a year, the unrest was made by a summer cottage, which was thoroughly renovated by Jasmine with his friend and colleague Ella Kanninen. The project also resulted in the book's Cottage Repair book, where Jasmine and Ella guide the renovation to all stages.

When the summer cottage was completed, Jasmine found that he accidentally put the family home for sale and present it to buyer candidates. "We have long talked to the children about a city apartment and a desire to try different living. About jumping into the tram in front of the house and looking at the awakening Helsinki on the shoreline." The dream was coming true and Jasmine could unleash his creativity again. Leaving her home with great effort is not mourned by her: "I do not get to the walls or goods, but I get to people. It makes it easier for people to go with life."

The atmosphere of the apartment is the most important

A dream apartment was found quite quickly as Jasmine sees the potential in the apartments that he does not hesitate to modify his needs. "If buying a home is compared to falling in love, then I am definitely a serial eating! So it is exactly the same as the bomber apartment will come, I get myself in the moment when I plan how a diamond is being refined for a bad and inactive apartment. The apartment is ready, how it would look like and what the future is waiting for us. ”

In order to become a home for a four -person family, the kitchen had to move the kitchen from the corner to the center of the apartment while making a single bedroom apartment a three bedroom. All of this had to be accomplished on a 28 -day tight schedule, after which the migration load would be brought in.

Plan Lua with the help of intuition and Excel table

As a renovator and designer, Jasmine has experienced so much that there is no time for nuts, but is strongly confident in his intuition. After two screenings, Jasmine left the offer, and once it was approved, Jasmine was in the apartment once more. On this basis, he made the kitchen and room division plans and ordered all the materials he needed.

“I record nice materials on the phone as screenshots throughout the year, and then I draw different options for the floor plans of the apartments. I also draw on paper kitchen plans or wardrobes. I always take a lot of photography on the first home screens so that I can return to the dwelling scale and with different rooms. Schedule, lots of moving parts and different renovation items, I make an excel table, which includes, in addition to selected materials, renovation schedule and links, continuous budget tracking if I have some pre-estimated amount exceeded or underneath, and I see the overall budget all the time. "

The relationship with the apartment is shaped during the renovation and Jasmine learns to know the pros and cons of the new home thoroughly before moving: “When moving in, we are so familiar that there are no more surprises. Again, but that's not the day. ”

Plastic -free and emission -free paints for city dwelling

Jasmine chose Uula's water -borne and natural oil -based interior paints for his new home. “Uula Color's goals are familiar to me from many of the previous projects, especially in the cottage renovation, the traditional paints were the only right option. A quick drying time is also absolutely important when the schedule is tight.

Jasmine chose a semi -matt , which is easier to keep clean. "Even though I don't have any toddler at home anymore, it always hurts and happens. The fact that you can wipe off the traces of a cleaning cloth to make life a lot easier."

The paint tones decide on the mood

The choice of paint shades largely determines what kind of atmosphere the atmosphere is created. Also in the choice of goals, Jasmine trusts the feeling: “The following day, I was doing a shade map from one room to another and made big lines decisions. First I feel the room feel and think about the furniture coming. Here too. The green shade of the living room was the shade of the Uula's inner color map meadow.

Jasmine gave her children the freedom to choose the shades of their own room, and were excited about whether they would like to have a blatant yellow, bright red or gloomy black. However, the children ended up in the peaceful colors suitable for other shades of the apartment. of the Heritage Map and of the Inner was chosen for the effect walls of the children's rooms .

Every corner of the street is filled with wonder

The renovation was a month -long sweaty crunch, after which the pace became a bit easier and jasmine could focus on choosing missing rugs and other interior elements, and eventually on vacation. The old home now lives in memories. "It is not difficult for me to give up dwellings or goods, so I do not adhere to walls or material. People are the most important, and every home is an integral part of the memories you have experienced with the most beloved people there. Every time the door closes the tirauta tears and go through the events of the life, and we all face and expire again."

Changes divide life into many different stages, as if there were many lives within one and the same life. “Different apartments also rhythmic life in a fun way. Certain things belong to events at a certain stage of life and every time you move, you can turn a new page: when it is a move from the countryside, a detached house to a terraced house, or half a square to the smaller one.

Jasmine feels that his roots are in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and it would not be easy to leave, even though the landscapes are changing within the area. "We have such a moving mind for the whole family, it is nice to try new places and housing. Even the kids are excited every time, while it happens. The best thing is when you have moved to a new place, you know no one and every corner and block is wonder and new.

Jasmine tips for painting

  • Rotate the plastic bag over the paint pan and pour the paint over it. This is how the work has been completed, just wrapping off the plastic bag and saving you from a cumbersome trough wash.
  • Between the paintings, wrap the rollers and brushes firmly in a plastic bag to prevent them from drying, so you can keep the tools on standby and do not need to be washed between the paintings.
  • When you make effect walls or paint with colored paint, the border is the best helper. You can easily and quickly get beautiful light boundaries, without messy or uneven lines.
  • Store old and worn sheets or towels for paintings. They are easy to apply to the floor and lightly moved if sudden painting work comes and the application of the protective paper feels oversized.
