Ostrobothnian House - The house is repaired and painted with respect for traditions

The Ostrobothnian house and the traditional Ostrobothnian buildings evoke strong, Finnish feelings. Appreciation, interest and curiosity for Ostrobothnian culture and buildings may be an unlawful folklore. The buildings exude stories of past and present generations and are historically fascinating, with all the details. This atmospheric yard and a handsome two -fon (two -story) Ostrobothnian house can be found in Lapua. The house dates back to 1847. White screen windows and traditionally called red -rolled walls, clear lines and symmetry give the Ostrobothnian house a respectable look.

Caring for and renovating old buildings requires commitment and work

In addition to the Uljaan main building, there are buildings such as a smoke sauna and shed buildings in the yard of the Ostrobothnian House. The house has been externally renovated by repairing the ceiling and raising the foundations. Traditional paints have been the primary choice for painting old buildings. We want to keep the whole in their original outfit and the old one is to be corrected with respect for traditions. The facades of the Ostrobothnian House were painted last year in 1999 with Uula cooking paint 42 Falun red. The color is dark red but also folds beautifully in brown. The white parts are also painted with traditional but timeless Uula linseed oil paint. The whole has been utilized e.g. As a small pilgrimage scene and in the nostalgic patterns of Vallila's Kotiseutu -Kangas.

Ostrobothnia and its painting

Now it is time to renew the porch of the Ostrobothnian House. The porch refurbishment project began with the search for the outer panel, as they wanted the boards to the site as before. The dimensions of the old traditional house are lively and there is no same measure for any millimeters. The renovation of the house required eg. the design of a new log to a rotten point. Such work is real handicraft. In addition, the left porch of the Ostrobothnian house had fallen and had to be slightly raised before the wall refurbishment. The panels on the terrace had once been green and its ceiling in the pink color. Now they change to the bright Uula traditional map of 00 white and painted with Uula linseed oil paint . Behind the old panel, a log wall was found with old markings, writing, numbers and burns. What is the secret to the markings? The loose boards were primed with 1: 1 Uula with a thinly thinned Uula soup, a shade of 42 falun red. Therefore, there was no need to do separate treatment with Uula Homeco and the fully primed board allows the unpainted wood surface to appear. Painting was done during the heat period in the evenings in the shade to prevent the sun from heating the painted or painted surface. The topcoat was done with unpaid cooking paint. After removing the white corners and window sills, Uula paint was washed and painted with white Uula linseed oil. Ostrobothnian house is once again a new paint on the paint.
