Our clients from Turku bought their dreams in late 2022. The renovation lasted half a year, and when the daughter's high school party was celebrated, the family wrapped their sleeves and the painting of the house could begin. The whole family's outdoor paintings were sung and talked about life.
The 1880s log house painted last summer in Turku, a rocky hill in Turku, a 15-minute walk from the marketplace. The region was a familiar evening loop, where they dreamed of an old atmospheric log house on a quiet street near the city center, from their own small yard and two apple trees. The dreams also included my neck, board floors, old double doors and back terrace, where you could embed in a cold water pool.
The dream house was found in the autumn of 2022 and the shops were sealed at the end of November. "That night, after doing our shops, we went to Rome to celebrate their 50th anniversary. In the evenings, we made huge renovation plans and lowered the budget in the evenings," says the mother of the family.
Before painting 80's removal
The house originally had a kitchen, one room, a porch and a cold loft. The previous owner expanded the house in 1987 with a new part, which currently has three bedrooms: two on the entrance floor and one upstairs. All 80's plastic-based materials were to be removed and replaced with breathable and as organic materials as possible.
“We renovated our upcoming home for over 6 months, during which time we bitten all the materials of the 1980s, looked for logs and removed the plastic mats, explored the bottom, changed the room order, increased the kitchen and current living room doorway, and built one new partition in the former living room. And on the walls, we put the porous plates on the walls, the walls and ceilings.

The tone of the exterior walls was selected with the National Board of Antiquities
Changing the color of the façade was already in contact with the building control in the spring, and the building supervision in turn negotiated with the National Board of Antiquities. The old color scheme of the house came to light during demolition work. There was a pink shade on the wall of a wooden porch that pleased. "We proposed two Uula's pink shades, rose and Vanamo as alternatives to the building control, and the National Board of Antiquities finally recommended us Vanamo, which is more of a brown folding and suitable for the old milieu."
The hurry of the summer began with the youngest child's high school party. The week after the party was reserved for the renovation and painting of the facade of the house. Some of the facade walls had been washed before the caps. Everything was ready on Monday after the party: paints, detergents and mold protection had been ordered from Uula in advance and the scaffolding had been applied for from relatives. While the family was still waiting for his son to join his son in Helsinki, they were excited about future weather. Would a wooden house be painted per week?
It is a good idea to do the groundwork carefully
The new outdoor decking had been painted in the 1987 extension to the house with a light yellow tone. However, over the years, the shade was almost completely worn out of the walls of the house. There was hardly any scaling or cracking to crawl, and the board was in good condition. Effective washing with a root brush and the latest half -meter in length of two boards was enough for the groundwork. Mold washing was only needed on the eastern end of the house, which was shade due to sirens and had developed a small moss -like crop.
This time it was relatively easy, but the old paint, especially all the poorly attached and loose, should always be carefully removed. Often the durability of maintenance painting depends on how well the old paint surface has been removed. Uula also recommends surface washing and mold protection before painting.
Petrol oil paint quickly gets a beautiful impression
Uula petroleum oil paint was chosen as an exterior with a neighbor's recommendation. "We ended up with two reasons for petroleum oil: our neighbors had painted their own house with the same paint years ago and praised its ease and endurance. On the other hand, the promise of one painting also attracted." The choice did not regret, the painting went easy and the end result was appealing to the eye. "We can recommend petroleum oil to such beginners like we do, because the paint is easy to brush, the imprint is beautifully shiny and the paint is sufficient."
Alternatively, a similarly painted wooden house would also be suitable for linseed oil or this season's new bio -based linen oil . Pure wooden surface of the maintenance painting often shows. Wood clean surfaces are painted with thinned oil paint according to the instructions. After priming, one plentiful layer of petroleum or linen oil is usually sufficient. If the house is exposed to hard climate loads, the surface can be painted twice. This gives more protection on the surfaces.
The painting of the house went smoothly and talk about dreams
The painting started with the street -side façade. The young people worked on racks up, as a rule, parents down. The painting was a nice time with the whole family: "We painted the A Cappella singing band with The King's Singers. Our son, singing in the historic Akademen Choir, talked about the details of the music and songs and the painting went unnoticed. Sometimes we also sang together." The weather was as favorable all week and the rest of the week the house was painted as far as possible without the crane.
The family's joint painting week sounds so idyllic that it makes you mind your own family to the painting project: "Painting was a nice time together, talking about life, dreams and plans. When painting in Uula, the trace quickly came up."
The shade of a wooden house lives according to light and seasons
At the beginning of July, a crane was rented, trees were pruned from the house and the high ends of the house were washed with their eaves lists and painted during one very long day. "The house came to life after getting a new shade on the walls. At the same time, it became happy, light and sophisticated - as a tired and sniffed plant would have blossomed."
Our customers have been pleased with the color of their choice, the look of which is changed according to light and seasonal variation. "Passers -by gave positive feedback during our painting project, and we have been more than satisfied with the house's new shade. However, the shade changes with light and seasons, but always as wonderful as Carl von Linn's favorite plant Vanamo really is." The shade of the Olive Heritage Map was chosen to accompany Vanamo.
The family finally moved to their new home last August. This spring and summer we will focus on yard work and hopefully find out if the apple trees they dream are growing in the yard or whether it is two plum trees and only one apple tree. The truth is expected to be clear in the autumn at the latest.
