Red Mulled Paint - Traditional Red Earth Paint is also suitable for talcum

The red paint is a traditional paint that has been used to paint houses for centuries. Further, this traditional paint is popular due to its breathability, ecology and its easy paintability. In this Red Earth story, we will be able to follow of the present project .

Current Project Blog - Red Mulled Paint Homes

On the last weekend of August, we held traditional red molding. The goal of the talks was simple: paint the whole house. We called half a dozen brisk friends as the workforce, so the expectations of success were high. Before painting, the wood repairs needed for the outer lining were made on the basis of "only a broken repair". The board had remained surprisingly good. Repairs were needed mainly on the south side. The house has previously been painted with red paint, or cooking paint, but it has expected to be several decades. At that time, of course, the paint was self -cooked, and the substances needed to make the paint were still in the barn.

However, we didn't start cooking the paint ourselves, even though it might have been fun. There were two reasons: 1. The self -cooked paint does not last for more than a couple of days, so it is just a day of talk to be a rush. 2. The shade of self -cooked paint is harder to control, and for us, the "right" tone was important. So we chose a finished goal from Uula. We are looking for the shade ourselves with a few test paintings. Because we kept the falun -red (Uula tone number 42) too dark and Italian red (No. 40) too light, we ended up in a shade that mixed half of Falun and half Italy. So Kuhmalahden was born (shade 41).

Goals

It was a matter of course that the paint would be used as a paint; The house had previously been painted and the characteristics of the paint were best suited to our log frame house. The permeability of the water vapor for cooking paints is very good. It must be, as the exterior lining has been nailed to the log body without ventilation, whereby the paint must not form a steam -tight film. The wall structure remains a physically functioning construction, breathable in the vernacular. This is important to understand the renovators of all old houses. Architect Pekka Sadsi understandably opens the matter in his blog post: https://www.saats.fi/blogi/mita-taketaita-hengtava

Another good feature of the red paint is its good adhesion and over -paintability. As a preparation, it is enough to brush off the dust and spider seeds on the surface painted with a cooking paint. So there is more time to prepare the work itself. Nothing is more annoying than the painting starts that start looking for paints and brushes at the nearest hardware store and hunting a ladder from the loft of a friend's godfather's cottage. The least that the host can offer in exchange for a free worker is to get all the supplies ready. And enough food and refreshments. And a lot.

End result and new projects

The painting of the house is well suited for work. It has a clear start and the end. It progresses fast and you can see the work of the work right away. We had seven painters and took six hours and 36 liters of paint, 8 liters of salmon, 2000 liters of lots and, judging by the end result, the result. Thanks to all the Taliban people! Hopefully you will be back in the painting in 15 years. And next summer to paint the barn.
